Over the weekend I’m happy to say that many
many people decided to share their story
about what their business means to them. At
my last count there are about 61 people
who’ve decided to share. You can view their
stories and share yours here.
As you read through these stories you’ll
notice a few things if you look closely.
First, as I mentioned a few days ago, many
have shared their zest for success so vividly
you can literally feel it as you read through
their words. Use their energy and excitement
a spark for your own.
The second thing you’ll notice is, on the
other hand, there are a few people that have
decided to share their failures. There is
nothing wrong with this. I’m happy that
everyone who shared took the time to do so,
but I do say this . . .
If you focus on your failure you create more
of them. I just read through some of the
feedback and saw how some shared that they
had been scammed and now they are scared to
move forward.
The thing is . . .
We’ve all had experiences in our business
that are less than savory. In fact, if I
chose to, every single day I could write you
about how I’ve been taken advantage of in one
way or another, but you don’t hear that from
me. Why?
It’s counterproductive. It doesn’t help you.
My job is to feed you with mental and
mechanical characteristics that move you
towards success, and so that’s what I share.
No one is a victim. Yes, we’ve all taken our
knocks, but so what? Focusing on those things
does not produce positive results, so why
waste the time?
The difference between success and failure is
slight and it’s mental. It, in fact, IS very
much a habit. One that require no additional
energy, just the proper use of the energy we
already have.
Mentally move away from dwelling on how
you’ve been wronged and each day that you
wake up do two things . . .
First, make the first thought you have each
day a positive one. Second, ask yourself what
your goal is each day and then set out to do
it. Once you acquire this habit you’ll soon
wonder why you ever wasted any time or
thought on anything else.
It takes no more energy to think about what
you’re going to do today to grow your
business than it does to think about what
someone did yesterday to wrong you, yet the
results each of these thought patterns
produce in our lives are polar opposites.
Now . . .
I understand that some actually enjoy
reliving past failures and that’s fine. All I
mean by this is, if you enjoy it do it, but
it’s not the thought path that’s going to
change anything.
The ultimate control we have is our thoughts
and it’s from these that we change the events
in our lives. If you feel like you’ve been
had and everything you’ve tried has turned
out to be a scam and so no one is to be
trusted, before you write your business off
try to change what you think about your
business.
Start inside. See . . . It’s natural to want
to “find” the secret to money and abundance
outside, but the biggest secret is, it ain’t
out there it’s in you. It’s natural to feel
that after I get XYZ I’ll be ready. It’s
comforting. But, it’s only half the story.
Again the other half, the more important half
is in you.
For instance . . .
I read in one of the responses that someone
said I had a “gift” for writing, and I
appreciate the compliment greatly, but - to
think you don’t have that same “gift” is
wrong.
All the “gift” is - is being yourself,
realizing that’s good enough, and that you have
real value to share. As much as I have this
gift, if you take a close look, you’ll see you
have the same.
The difference between the doers and “yeah
buters” is slight, it’s free, and it’s in
your power. It’s simply the choice of
perspective.
Which do you choose?
Ohh . . . And I almost forgot.
One other trend I’m seeing (and really this
should be a completely different message, but
it popped into my mind now so I’ll share . .
.) is that a few people have said . . .
“Why don’t the businesses we join just let us
join for free and have us sign some paper
that says once we make some money we’ll pay
it back?”
Read that again for me.
What is this question really getting at?
What I see in this question is confusion.
When was the last time you tried to start a
McDonalds franchise and they said . . . “No
don’t pay for your franchise now, just sign
here, and when you make some money send it
our way?”
It’s not going to happen and to think that
this is the way business is done is just plain
wrong. If you question this, you’re main issue
is not one of success, it’s even more basic
than that, it’s one of what you’re really
after.
Businesses inherently involve risk and
opportunity. If you start a business you take
on the risk for the upside of unlimited
opportunity. We all step into these shoes
when we start a network marketing or direct
sales business.
If you’re after anything other than
opportunity in a business, then you’re not
looking for a business. The truth is you’re
looking for a job.
In a job, you get interviewed and if you
qualify you get paid hourly. There’s null risk,
you get paid for your time. If that’s the set
up you’re looking for than you’re not looking
for a business you’re looking for a job.
Here’s something I didn’t realize until I
started working for myself . . .
I used to fear making the ends meet on my
own - “What if I have a bad month and I can’t
pay the bills?”, but what I realized once I
stepped into these shoes is once you embrace
the opportunity side of your business there
really is zero risk, because as you grow so does
your 1ncome, and more importantly you control
the entire situation.
It’s actually a much more secure situation
than just a job, but you’ll see what I mean
once you’re home free.
Let me know what you’re thinking . . .
