Daegan

When I first started marketing online it
really wasn’t all that hard to set up traffic
streams like Google Adwords, but the trouble
came in when I had to try to interpret those
results.

Just a few days ago while conducting a
meeting for the advanced members of Power
Prospecting System I was reminded of the fact
that it’s really the interpretation of your
marketing results more so than the set up
that requires discipline and skill.

I was asked?

“What do you do if traffic isn’t converting
to leads at the rate that you would like it
to?”

The answer is simple, but sometimes not easy.

What you do is you set up a “threshold point”
before you start doing any of your marketing.

For example, if you’re using Google Adwords
you say “Any traffic that doesn’t convert at
20% or better to leads I will get ride of.”

Then when you start your marketing campaign,
you wait for a significant amount of clicks
to come your way.

For Adwords, 150 to 200 clicks for that
particular campaign should do it, and if you
don’t get a 20% lead conversion you just stop
that campaign.

This is hard for the new marketer because he
or she will want to WILL the desired results.

That is, you’ll set up your traffic campaign,
you’ll set a limit you’d like to see your
traffic convert at, but then when it doesn’t
you’ll continue to let a failing campaign
continue to run in hopes that it will turn
itself around.

It may happen, but the odds are not in your
favor.

If you want ensure you only spend time and
money of the type of traffic that converts
into leads, set a “threshold” for results and
stick to it, trust me.

Survival Of The Fittest And A Little Elbow Grease Online?

Monday, April 7th, 2008

What if you could learn the secrets a
young bike courier with sever asthma used to
go from broke to recruiting over 289 people
in a single month, and just two short years
later be earning more in a day than he used
to in a month? Would you use them? Here’s
your chance to find out - Go here now:

==> http://www.recruitlikecrazy.com/freecd

A few days ago I was asked an important
question worth sharing . . .

This person had just begun using Google’s
Adwords - pay per click advertising program and
was struggling through a few issues that I’m
sure, if you’ve tried pay per click marketing,
you’ve struggled through yourself at some
point (at least I know I have.)

Although the answer to this question is
specific to Google, the foundation principle
carries over to everything in your business,
so today you get a double wammy. A way to
reduce your lead cost via pay per click
marketing and a way to improve your overall
marketing result.

Enough rambling for now though . . .

The question:

“I’ve just starting using pay per click
marketing and although I’ve gotten over
90,000 exposures of my ad I’ve only had about
100 people click my link and only a very few
actually converted to leads. What can I do to
improve the situation?”

The answer:

The main issue here is one of targeting.

What makes pay per click marketing a powerful
and revolutionary way to get exposure for
your business is the fact that anyone can
pick it up and have a worldwide reach in less
than an hour.

Thinking about this is exciting. You
immediately get to play in the league with
the big boys in an incredibly low risk
environment where you only pay for successful
result - successful clicks.

Pay per click marketing is one of those
things that takes a small amount of time to
get into and understand, but much longer to
master. Most fall short of their goals
not because the media doesn’t work, but
rather because they give up to soon.

To get high converting long term and
competition proof exposure in this arena will
take some time, but it ain’t tought. It’s
more mechanical and a mindgame that anything
else.

It’s simply a matter of getting rid of ads
that don’t work the way you want and adding
new ones that do. So it’s a constant process
of testing.

You’re always finding and testing new
keywords and getting rid of low performing
ones.

It works like Darwin’s “Survival of the
fittest”

Only those ads and keywords that perform well
stay, the others you kill of.

So what tends to get people stuck is they
start and their results aren’t as they
expected and they get frustrated and also
falsely think they’ve exhausted all possible
keywords so they take the situation at hand
as “this is as good as it gets” and either
continue to overpay for traffic or give up.

I’ll tell you this . . .

I’ve been at pay per click for a long time
and to this day I have well over 18,000
active keywords in my own campaign and
regularly generate leads at $0.13 a pop, but
every single day I add some more to test and
get rid of low performers.

There’s more opportunity out there than you
know, but to make it work it does require
some elbow grease. You gotta work at it for a
while, and ruthlessly get rid of low performs
knowing that there are new and better
keywords out there.

So, I’d continue to do my research and add
new keywords while continually getting rid of
losers. (What this also implies is you gotta
track)

Further . . .

Once you get the knack of it the ppc world
the same principles apply to all your lead
generation efforts, but above all else you
gotta use a little elbow grease and keep at
it.

How Do I Start On A Shoestring Budget?

How Do I Start On A Shoestring Budget?

Here’s our fourth installment of this month’s
question answer session!

Ok Daegan

I’m game…I’ve watched one Yanik video too
many, If you were starting over in your
business today and you had a $500 budget, but
no list, no contacts, no ebook, no name, and
3 hours a day free to devote to your business
(pretty much where our prospects are), what
step by step action would you take daily to
make a promotion in the next 30 days?

Where would you devote your resources?

Would you give more attention to blogs or
forums or Traffic Swarm or ezines or
something else?

-Carlos Scarpero

Carlos,

Again, I’m being fed great questions which
help get right to the heart of matters and
I’m more than happy to oblige.

Your question mirrors the exact circumstance
that I was confronted with when I first found
my most recent network marketing opportunity.

Instead of telling you what I WOULD do I can
tell you exactly what I did.

This should help enlighten quite a few
issues.

The first thing I did when I began marketing
my business:

I guess I should start prior to first thing I
did, because it was actually the steps that I
took before I actually began my promotion
that set me up for HUGE success online.

Before actually beginning marketing of my
business I had to be sure all my eyes were
dotted and tees crossed.

What do I mean?

I made sure I had a powerful marketing
system.

To make things simple and not to rehash this
concept you should be sure that whatever
business you join has one.

If not I STRONGLY suggest you create one.

You can start simply . . .

You system should include:

Lead Capture Page Automated Email Follow Up
For All Leads Direct Marketing Style Sales
Page

When I came across my business it had all
things in place.

Why is this important?

As the great Myron Golden says:

“What you lack in skill you can make up for
in leverage.”

Well I lacked skill in recruiting via peer to
peer contact in a BIG way.

Having a system in place before marketing
afforded me the leverage to have a sale
process in place that was concise and easily
duplicable.

So I did my homework.

(If I had not found such a system I would
have taken the time to create one.)

After finding a business with the proper
tools the next thing that I needed to do was
test.

The first place I went to test this system
was actually a forum online called the
Warrior Forum.

In that forum one of the members was allowing
solo mailings to his mailing list for $60 a
piece.

I did a test with one of these list.

The mailing brought in my first 12 sign ups.

If it works you do it again.

With a little tweaking of the ad copy I did
another mailing to this same list.

The results were 24 MORE new sign ups.

So . . .

I knew the system worked at this point.

The next step was to try different medians
for further proof.

I moved into PPC marketing and Forum
marketing.

I began a campaign with Google Adwords in
which I choose 700+ keywords to advertise
with at a cost per click of around $.20.

The results.

The next day I had spent $14 and from that
spend I generate 14 leads and 1 new sign up.

This system worked so I left it in place and
moved on to forum marketing and more robust
newsletter marketing.

For the newsletter marketing I turned to the
Directory of Ezines

And for the forums I choose 4 forums.

2 were internet marketing related and the
other 2 were network marketing related.

I posted to these forums 2 to 3 times a day
for the period of a week.

This activity generated 5 new sign ups in the
business.

With these results what I do I think you
should do first?

Newsletter marketing will bring you the
biggest bang for your buck, but it’s also the
most risk.

So I would test my system with newsletter
marketing via a solo ad.

Once marketability is confirmed I would then
move to PPC marketing and test there.

Finally I would go to forums and strike up a
few conversation and see how that works.

You’ll get good marketing data and you’ll be
able to scale your further promotions from
these initial results.

To take your marketing to the next level all
you will simply need to do is take these
success and do them on a larger scale
tracking your success ever step of the way.

To increase your rank in your company once
you get some personal momentum going you need
to do is relay ALL of your success back to
your team in an exact and precise fashion.

Those that are highly motivated will turn
around and duplicate.

Let’s Fix A Quick Mistake I See . . .

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

First off . . .

In a few weeks I’ve got something pretty darn
cool coming your way, so be on the lookout. I
think you’ll really get a great deal out of
what I have planned.

But, in the meantime, let’s clear up a quick
mistake I see a few people make. A few days
ago I invited everyone who cared to share
their story over on the blog.

http://daegansmith.com/blog2/?p=44

I invited everyone to share their link for
their business in the slot noted on the blog
if they wanted to and I noticed many people
took me up the offer for free traffic, but I
also noticed a few people made one of those
newbie mistakes, so let’s clear it up now.

The mistake is to just put your business
opportunity link in as is, so if your
business link is username.blahbla.com many
people just input it as such, and although
it’s not wrong it’s a little bit of a
mistake.

Here’s why . . .

Let’s say in the future you decide to change
your business or, knock on wood, you’re
business goes under and you have links all
over the net going straight to your business,
what happens?

Well you’ve spent a great deal of time
finding great places to get the word out, but
now that something changes all those links
now lead people no where. To try to go back
and change every single link would be
impossible, so . . .

The way to fix it is simple. First, you want
to think long term about everything you’re
doing. Think five years out and think of
everything you’re doing now as being
something that you’re doing that’s building
to the future. You’re creating leverage so
that over the course time things get easier
for you.

So here’s what you do . . .

You go over to a domain name register and you
buy a domain name that you like. The domain
name register will have the ability for you
to forward your domain to where ever you like,
so just forward it to your company’s website.

The traffic still goes to the same place now,
but you’ve put a safety valve in the mix.

Once you own your domain name you own it and
no one can disturb your flow of traffic
except you, so . . .

If 20 years from now you want to start
sending all your online traffic in a new
direction all you have to do is forward
your domain name that you own to the new
location and now not a unique visitor is
wasted.

That’s smart marketing.

Before you advertise anything else out
there online be sure you’re sending all your
traffic through a domain you own and control
and in essence you now control that entire
stream of traffic for the rest of your life.

Small Hinges Swing Big Doors

Friday, February 8th, 2008

“Small hinges swing big doors”

I don’t know where I heard this quote for the
first time, but after speaking to a good
friend about a subtle change that he made in
his business that produced huge results I
just couldn’t get these words out of my head.

Doing the exact same things in his business,
but making one small change to the “who” took
him from a position of chasing down leads to
having them chase him . . .

Burke was originally using the internet to
target the business opportunity market and
was achieving results in his business, but
when he found his real target market, the
people that had a problem that he was well
equipped to solve his business took off.

He told me a story of how, after just a
couple of weeks of making this little change
he all of sudden had people emailing and
calling asking exactly how they could join
his business.

He did everything else the same. All he did
was change “who” not what he did and the
results started pouring in.

See . . .

The thing is, he doesn’t have a huge business
now, but because he found the “RIGHT” leads
for his business he doesn’t need hundreds a
day to make a good living, all he really
needs is 15 to 25 a day.

And out of those 15 to 25 leads a day,
because they are, again, the right leads for
his business, he’s got his plate full with
more people trying to get at him than he can
handle.

Burke’s story reminded me of the most
important and simple, yet most overlooked,
factor that can make your job of growing your
business much much easier.

It’s a question . . . “Who is my best
prospect?”

This question is that little hinge that
swings the big doors in your business.

Today’s Message Is Brought To You By The Letter “T”

Today’s Message Is Brought To You By The
Letter “T”

There are two very important “T” words that
you must know by heart and use on a daily
basis in your marketing efforts.

The first is TRACKING

You must track everything that you do in your
business or else you’re literally flying
blind. If you’re not using ad tracking in
your business how do know which ads work?

It’s a habit for most that is learned late in
the game, but I’m telling you flat out the
more you track the more you make and more you
recruit.

How does a person who couldn’t recruit a soul
to save his life go on to recruit some 467+
without picking up the phone? It has a lot to
do with that little “T” word. Once I found
something that worked I did it over and over
again, and it just keeps on working.

But you don’t know what works until you start
practicing the fine art of tracking your
actions online. Once you hit gold, you find a
resource or particular traffic generation
method that works well and converts
consistently and predictably you practice the
art of “Relentless repetition”

You do that same thing over and over and
over.

I was asked a few days ago “How do you grow a
big list fast?” It has a lot to do with the
two things just mentioned. Once you have your
set up ready, you start TRACKING. Once you’re
tracking shows you the least resistant path
to success you keep on plugging away at it.

If you can generate 1 lead you can generate
1000 and if you can generate 1000 leads you
can generate 10000 if you practice the arts
of tracking and relentless repetition.

Now the other “T” is just as important as the
first. It’s TESTING.

Once you’ve tracked your actions enough to
know what works now comes the testing phase.
You TEST everything you can about your
marketing funnel from email headlines to
audio on your lead capture page.

Why?

You’ll again hit pay dirt. You’ll find a few
surprising things that instantly catapult
your results. One example from my own
business is I’ve been testing audio in
different portions of my business, on one
particular funnel the addition of just a
simple short audio message increased my
conversions by over 100%.

The great thing about testing is, once you
find what works better, you just leave it. It
requires no further work on your part, yet
you reap the rewards forever.

What if one small tweak to one of your
landing page could double the number of
people that you recruit without any
additional effort? Wouldn’t you want to know
what it is, like right now?

The way you find that out is to practice the
art of relentless repletion when it comes to
TESTING. Test it all, because one small
change could mean huge positive shifts in
your business.

Today’s message was brought to you by the
letter “T”

TEST and TRACK with relentlessly
repetition and you’ll do nothing but make
immediate and gigantic improvements to
your business.

Automated Passive Free SEO Traffic?

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

This is a topic that get’s very little face
time in the internet network marketing arena,
but it’s something that I’ve been secretly
testing myself and I gotta tell you I’m
amazed by what I’m seeing.

I’m a guy that likes to have as much of my
business run on autopilot as possible, so
whenever I see a way to get more traffic and
for free I’m testing it immediately.

One thing I’m testing right now is having my
blog posts automatically bookmarked in the
major bookmarking sites on the internet so
that whenever I post a blog post it get’s
immediately posted to 20+ different
bookmarking site online without me doing
anything else. It’s completely passive, get’s
me one way links.

Sound like a winner to me, but on top of this
. . .

What I’ve noticed is I get immediate traffic
and all of my new blog post get indexed in
the search engines immediately. It’s powerful
stuff.

This Monday at 8pm EST, I’m going to be
holding a special fr’ee seminar by phone with
a couple of engineers that have taken this
idea of passive automated search engine
optimized traffic to the next level.

The more ways you get traffic, especially the
more free ways you get traffic, the more
leads, the more recruits, and the more that
get’s added to your bottom line.

Can You Hit A Moving Target Blindfolded?

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

A few days ago I conducted my regularly scheduled
internet network marketing training call for
my organization.

We covered marketing tactics, follow up,
marketing systems, but most importantly right
at the end we discussed a topic so crucial to
success, yet so misunderstood, that you need
to hear exactly what I told these great
success seeking folks on the phone.

===Advertisement===
What if you could learn not only how to
generate leads and recruits on demand, but
also how to hit the bull’s eye everytime in
your marketing? No more cold calling, no more
wasting advertising dollars, and a whole lot
more fun, success, and income. That’s the
game I play and here’s your first lesson . .

I told them and I’m tell you imagine going to
a archery range and imagine that you have
never shot a bow and arrow before.

You head over to the equipment table excited
to get your equipment and finally take your
first shot.

You get there, you get your equipment, and
your instructor takes you out the to the
shooting range.

There it is right in front you . . . The
target. It’s big and it’s red with a white
circle in the middle for the bulls eye.

Ok, you’re ready to take your first shot.
Your instructor teaches you how to aim, but
before you take your first shot he blindfolds
you.

You shoot.

And what happens?

You miss.

Next your instructor takes your blindfold off
and takes you to another range where the
targets are moving and instructs you to do
the same.

He blindfolds you again, you shoot and . . .

Again you miss.

Remember you’re new to archery, and you’re
out there trying to hit these moving targets
with a blindfold on.

Even if you could see it, would probably take
you some time to get proficient enough at
archery to actually hit the target
consistently, but with a blindfold on, what
do you think your chances of hitting the
target are?

You could sit there all day and hurl one
thousand arrows and you would probably miss
the target every time.

What does this have to do with you and
network marketing on the internet?

It’s simple . . .

Learning how to market your business online
is like learning how to shoot a bow and arrow
for the first time.

It looks like fun, and is, but to hit the
bulls eye every time you gotta get good.

That’s gonna take practice.

But really, internet network marketing is
more like trying to hit a moving target.
You’re prospects are out there, but they’re
constantly moving around.

So it’s a little harder than hitting a static
target, but still a skill that is very
learnable.

What most people do though is . . .

They get excited. They learn just enough of
the craft to take a shot at finding a few
prospects online.

Then they put the blindfold on and shoot a
thousand arrows hoping to hit something.

It ain’t gonna work!

Your blind fold online is trying to market
your business without track your actions.

It’s just as silly to not track what you do
in your marketing efforts as it is to put a
blindfold on and try to hit a moving target.

You waste a lot of energy, you have no idea
how close you are to the target, and if you
do it long enough you’re gonna get frustrated
and quit.
