How To Turn Your Worst Rip Off Into Wealth

Yesterday’s debate was heated and many points
of view on the concept of being ripped of
were shared - tomorrow I’ll give you my two
cent on it all, but today I want to show you
how to turn your rip off into money in your
pocket.

Pay attention . . .

First let me share a insight from yesterday
that may change your perspective on a few
things.

Yesterday’s debate was viewed over 2797 times
in less than 24 hours after sending one
simple email at 1am. (See blog stats image
below)

Rip Off Traffic

In that same time within 10 minutes our live
debate started with the first piece of
feedback on the blog. Within 1 day 57
people had weighed in.

People ask me all the time “Daegan, how do I
get people to pay attention to what I’m
saying if I’m just starting, if I don’t have
a big name, if I’m not making big money?”

The answer is looking right back at you right
now. (Do you see it?)

The way to get a person’s attention is to
speak their language, identify with them, to
talk about what’s on the top of their mind.
(Do you see it now?)

I want to give you one more hint . . .

When I created my first information product
“Internet MLM Success”, in the sales copy I
spent a lot of time describing how a lot of
what I tried in the past didn’t work until I
discovered the tactics I describe in my free
blueprint here.

So my question to you is: How could you
use being ripped off or wronged in the past
to get the immediate attention of those in
your market?

How could you turn being ripped off into
traffic, leads, and recruits?

Let’s Discuss Below:
- The exact steps you would take
- Any insights you’re now having
- Questions

And let’s take this conversation and
learning experience to the next level.

I have been ripped off so many times that I cannot count. I started on the internet since 2001 after my retirement because I was intrigued by the internet and the vas opportunity it offers. I have gone from one program to another. I have spent thusands of dollars without getting the golden grail. However, I am not giving up. I believe that it is possible tomake money on the internet. Yes there are many scammers and it is like scamming, exploitation have all been taken to a higher level. But the good outwighs the bad as in all works of life so I will hang in here until I get it right and join the league. I will keep getting up until I am one of those standing and my patience and belief would have paid off.

    Great Stuff
My strategy is to use the experience I have had working in the retail and corporate environment for 25 years and then deciding to go out on my own. Creating a bricks and mortar business with two friends, becoming the bank and subsidizing the business, then becoming a silent partner because that is not the business I thought it would be. Being unfulfilled in what I was doing knowing full well there was more to this life we all have. Getting into mlm and then experiencing exactly what Daegan did with rejection and buying leads etc. Now I am on the path after learning from Daegan and several other members in the mlm family to take my business to the next level.

The first key is mindset and changing the way you are programed from being an employee to being an entrepreneur.

Its all about you, the action you take, dealing with things that don’t work and NOT getting discouraged. Fail forward and do it fast, because it only leads to success. Look the New England Patriots were the saddest team in the NFL at one time, then became the powerhouse they have been for the last 5 years and they still don’t win every game or championship.

As for the steps, I am using Daegan’s blueprint and will launch my site within a week. His blueprint works as well as some others out there.

Massive Action is what it takes, a consistent plan day in day out. Remember you are running a business, and the operative word is YOU.

As for me when it comes to me coming up short, I do not blame gurus or others, I just look in the mirror and say “I can do better, I will do better, I am better”.

Great discussion Daegan and I can feel it leading up to something big!!

    Florence,

It’s nice that you’re willing to push forward despite setbacks, but what I really wanted to you think and respond to here was a plan you will use to take your less fortunate events to get leads, traffic, sales, and recruits. Think in that direction and respond back with those ideas and you’ll be much more productive.

Don’t forget about what happened, but think about how you can use it instead of the more reactionary approach of reliving the negative outcomes. It was the past. I’m asking you to think about how you can leverage that to success now.

The reason is it’s great to say you’re never gonna give up, but if you don’t create a plan, you don’t create clarity and you don’t get anywhere fast.

OK, my personal game plan is:

Step 1 — create a landing page that uses copy to capitalize on the feeling of being ripped off. You are so right. This is a HUGE touchpoint — particularly now with the economy the way it is. No one wants to spend a cent they don’t feel they are getting full value for.

Step 2 — start a blog discussion such as the one you did, talking about being ripped off and asking for people’s input and comments.

Step 3 — send an invitation to everyone on my subscriber list regarding the blog post.

Step 4 — start an Adwords campaign using the “ripped off” scenario that will end up on my landing page created in Step 1, opting people into my mail list. These folks with then also get the invite to weigh in on the blog. They will also, of course, get a product pitch.

This is really good stuff. Thanks, Daegan.

    Cheree,

You get the A++++ for today! You’re a smart cookie. You do what you just described and you’ll get immediate traction in the market, but . . .

I’ve got a few more tricks up my sleeve to help you even further, so pay attention because that’s coming soon.

I am new to this forum, but like everyone else, I am trying to find a
way to create my own leads, targeted leads, without having to pay for
solo ads, coops, joining a marketing company and having to learn how
they operate, which takes TIME. I am currently getting very good
results with a coop I paid $200 for, but I’m still having a hard time
getting people to join. They will sign up but most of them never follow
through and actually join. My company uses an “automatic”
autoresponder, and the emails are very good, so I can’t figure out
why I can’t get more people to join. Any ideas anyone?
Thank you for your help; it’s very much appreciated.

  9. James Holmes Says:

Daegan - What a great topic. Let me add a little twist to the conversation because I truly feel I am on to a subtle rip off that takes place every day, it is one that has fostered a lot of skepticism toward our industry among those who feel like they have been ripped off. My experience has taught me that well intended distributors in every company that I am aware of are not being taught what they need to know in order to succeed in this industry. New distributors are taught to hunt down their friends and family and when they have exhausted their list they are told to make a new list from their “warm market.” My question is this; are we in the network hunting business or network hunting business? The rip off comes when people are kept from the information being used by the 3% who dominate the industry, earn the six and figure checks, and walk across the stage at the company conventions.

So that is where people like you come into the picture to shed a little light on what it really takes to succeed in this industry. I decided 17 months ago after enrolling 33 people into my business in my first 45 days in the industry only to witness very little duplication that their must be more to creating success in my business. I sought mentors and teachers outside of my up-line to learn what I needed to know to become successful - I then taught what I learned to my team. So, I applaud your taking this subject on to get to the heart of the matter. Most of the people who complain and feel ripped off would have to admit (if they are honest with themselves) that they haven’t put in enough time and effort to learn what they needed to learn to earn the success they are seeking. In essence THEY RIPPED THEMSELVES OFF. Most companies in this industry are legitimate, but most don’t teach the masses what must be done, so the industry must share some of the responsibility for so many failures as well. I look forward to the unfolding of this discussion.

I am so new at this that I do not know how to set up a blog. I need help and I need it fast.

  11. David Enders, D.C. Says:

Daegan: James made a very good point about associates/distributors not being properly taught how to market and recruit. The majority of people are not really going after their target market, they are going after friends, relatives, co-workers and the truth is that probably 100% of these people have no interest in their own business. You may want to approach them about your product or service, but forget about talking to them about the business. I have searched out mentors such as yourself, Mike Dillard of Magnetic Sponsoring, Mike Klingler of Renegade University, Dale Calvert, and others. They can ALL be helpful in learning how to market professionally. It takes time and work, but learning how to reach your target market puts you lightyears ahead of those who continue to use “Old School” methods.

  12. Asher Says:

    Hi Daegan,

I would definitely create a story and
talk about how I was ripped off/wronged
in the past and use that as my headline
when I have a specific page up.

I would create a lead capture page,
probably have a blog entry and allow
discussions about it, and send an email
to the people who have opted in via
the lead capture page and tell them
    about what’s going on.

Kind of like what you’re doing now ;)

Daegan, Awesome read….Getting peoples attention is very important when somebody comes to your site. You do not have much time…Your copy better be good….Writing about personal experiences puts the reader at ease, especially when what you have experienced has happened to them. They can relate, and it puts them at ease. Using blogs is where it is at…Google loves them, and people relate to them better than the old stand-by website model. David

    Cheree,

You’re on top of your game here. Very good stuff. Keep me up to date on your results. Anyone else who looks in here to see how swiftly you’ve acted will immediately pick up on one of the most crucial keys to success. The faster you put an idea into action directly correlates to how successful that idea will be.

    Daegan,

I am new to this . I would like to know what I need to do to get started? I woudl ike to know whether there is a way to piggy back via your system or via a mentor’s sytem until I am able to venture out on my own and make major changes. or is there a way for me to generate traffic at zero cost immediately?

  19. Cheree Says:

    Daegan and all,

Just wanted to report in on what’s happened the last couple of days. I have had 193 hits to my “ripped off” page (93 of them came from here!). Only six people downloaded my free report, but 10 people signed up for my email list with 3 more that haven’t confirmed yet. My ezinearticle has been republished on one site. Yesterday I held to top two spots on google search for “ripped off by internet marketing gurus”. Today, I still hold the top spot. I did have one person request — in an expletive filled email — to be removed from my list. In the email, he compared me to “the king of never calling a lead”. Hence, my blog topic for today: The Female Daegan Smith? which you can read here: http://blog.wealthbuilderssite.com/?p=32

Don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m sure having fun!

    Hi Daegan,

I got your e-mail notifying me of the free seminar a day after the seminar took place, so I missed it.

I read the promo about his getting off the fishing trawler/boat. Congratulations to him. It sounded like a living hell.

  21. Corinne Larimore Says:

I would just like to follow up on my last comment, and trust me,
Daegan is “the guy” to go to as far as the right way to do
things. I just joined a company that is in pre launch, and guess
what, I am NOT a failure; imagine that. Even though I’ve put in
some very long hours and have been scammed more times than I care
to admit, the reason 97% of people fail is because the big wigs
don’t do the work; the members they sign up do the work. When you
join a company, all you have to do is create leads, follow up with
them, teach them everything you know, track which ads are doing
the best, get yourself out there so people will buy from YOU, not
the other 96.9% that are working just as hard as you are, plus so
many other tasks, I could write a book on them. All the 3% do and
know is how to get you to do all their work while they bask in the
glory of being part of the 3% that succeed. Of course they
succeed as they have YOU doing all their work. The company I’m so
lucky to have found has a CEO who says it’s hard for any company
to advertise enough and make sales consistently, and it is NOT up
to the lowly little affiliate to know how to do the 20-30 tasks
that one MUST know in order to make huge amounts of money. I did
medical transcription, but not just anyone can do it. It, just
like advertising, takes a lot of studying, researching, practice,
motivation, and TIME to LEARN how to know what the doctor is
saying. The same goes for affiliate marketing. Even if you sign
up ten people, chances are slim that ANY of them will know
everything they will need to know to keep bringing in members and
teaching them how to bring in members.

I’ve sat here so many hours that I fell asleep one night, and woke
up with a dead right hand that was completely paralyzed.
Fortunately, it turned out to be a good thing as on the MRI,
they found a brain aneurysm that was life threatening.
So bad things can end up to be good, but my case is rather extreme.

You cannot find 3, and those 3 find 3, etc., and build a large,
flourishing business as NO ONE has the time to be teaching 3 people
how to promote over and over, NO ONE. Thankfully, most websites have
finally put in resources on how to advertise, but even that isn’t
enough as there are always things one must learn on their own, such as
how to use an autoresponder, etc.

Money CANNOT BUY KNOWLEGE . . . . That is why so many people fail is they
May have the money, but it takes KNOWLEDGE to succeed.

Very few successful people reached their goals without someone’s help.
Everyone needs someone that is an expert in teaching and mentoring.
I hope, esp. with the company I just joined, that pretty soon that “97%”
will start decreasing as soon as people learn, again, you cannot do it
yourself, and no amount of money will help you unless it’s used to pay a
mentor to teach you. I have always admired Daegan as he tells it like
it is and does not try to sugar coat what it takes to make money.
