The Missing Link . . .
Thursday, March 13th, 2008 This morning I was reviewing my success
library and thinking about some of the
lessons I’ve learned over the years about
marketing and success, and there is one
lesson that I believe goes under stated
more than any other, once you latch onto this
you’ll be able to take anything you learn and
create success out of it.
Read closely . . .
I remember getting a question about a year
ago from a young lady who was excited and
anxious to start her business online. She
brought up that she didn’t know how to create
webpages and that that was one of the biggest
things holding her back.
My advice was simple . . .
Either learn how to do it yourself of hire
someone who can do it for you.
She took this advice and immediately enrolled
in an html and web design class.
Over the course of time I’ve gotten similar
question to this:
“I want to do this, but I don’t know how to
do that.” - You can fill in the blanks with
just about anything.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had the
same sort of issue come up in my own
business. I’ll get the plan and understand it
all, but there’s one small area that I’m not
totally sure on and it’s at that point I’ll
catch myself. (Sooner these days than in the
past.)
The answer is, go test and see what happens,
but the natural tendency will be to look for
the answer out there online or in some other
book or text.
Why?
It’s easier, and it delays the part of the
process where you actively have to do
something. (So in the past, searching for
the answer let me be lazy, but think I was
working.)
Whatever the gaps in your plan is, once
you have the game plan like this.
The answer is not to waste time trying to
figure it all out, the RIGHT answer is to get
out there and test and let your results
fill in the missing pieces.
You’ll find yourself succeeding faster,
learning more about marketing than you could
ever imagine, and most importantly, becoming
highly self sufficient in your thoughts and
actions in your business once you embrace
this mindset.
Get the information, but don’t let the things
you don’t understand fully stop you from
getting started. Trust that your results will
teach you more - quicker than trying to work it
all out in your head first ever will.
