I woke up this morning pretty early and went
outside for a walk and as spring is just
around the corner I noticed the trees in my
back yard starting to bud. New life and new
leaves, and as I watched I thought back to a
conversation I had last week with a good
friend.
He too, like spring, was just beginning to
bud into a new life of success and prosperity
in his business, but what he didn’t realize
is when this happens you get a gift . . .
A target on your back.
He gave me a call quite stressed after
receiving a disturbing email from his once
sponsor. My friend had just put on a training
call for his team where he talked about some
of his past failures that led him to success.
Somehow his ex sponsor found his way into
that training and subsequently sent him a
nasty email calling him a fraud and telling
him that he was going to expose my friend to
world as such.
He was nervous and shaken about how his once
sponsor would take such spiteful actions and
looked to me for a little advice. As he told
me the story I started to smile on the other
end of the phone and said “Congratulations -
Now you’re official my friend!”
See, you know you’re on the right track when
things like this happen. There’s more
jealousy and fear out there in the world
than you’d think. It can come from places
you’d least expect - like a once friend and
sponsor, but when it shows it’s ugly head
it’s not a time to get scared or think you’re
doing something wrong.
In fact, the opposite is true. You’re doing
everything right and it’s a time to throw
your arms in the air and scream “Hurrah!”
Why? When you’ve gained enough attention that
a few react with fear and jealousy beacuse
you’re making waves and they’re not so don’t
stop. Don’t let them break you down instead
keep charging ahead.
You’re just budding into success and a
misstep now could bring you down. When they
see you as a target and take aim stick your
chest out and let them hit you with all they
got and you’ll learn something amazing.
Words, jealousy, and rejection can’t hurt you
only them.
My advice to him was to plaster that nasty
email out there for the world to see. My
friend did and found a world of support.
For every would be success assassin there’s
an army of others on your side ready and
willing to stick up for you if you just let
them.
The next time someone tried to bring you down
with their fear and insecurity, stick your
chest out. Take their best shot. Throw your
arms in the air and scream “Hurrah!”
